Gov. Ted Kulongoski appointed longtime member Larry Medinger to chair the Oregon State Housing Council, effective July 1. Medinger, an Ashland builder, believes deeply in the need for affordable housing.
He is particularly proud of his 1999 development Mountain Meadows Retirement, which was awarded best small retirement community by the National Commission on Senior Housing. Mountain Meadows also was honored by Western Builders as the best retirement community in the western US and Canada and the Pacific Rim.
Medinger has raised concern that working people are priced out of housing, and he expects to be active on the Oregon State Housing Council to advocate for workers who are being driven out of high-housing-cost communities across the state.
